The American Idol alum is expecting her first child with Dana Isaiah. While her due date is still months away, she told she’s been busy preparing for her little one. Now that she’s confirmed the happy news and announced the gender of her little one — a boy — to fans, does that mean she has a name picked out as well?
“We do,” Jordin, 28, told us. “We’re just not telling!”
However, name aside, the expectant mom doesn’t have everything locked down yet. Now in her second trimester, Jordin is admittedly feeling a bit nervous about becoming a first-time parent with her 25-year-old husband.
“It’s nerve-wrecking and really exciting at the same time because it’s new and something we’ve never experienced before,” she said. “For both of us, we’re just excited to see what he looks like, what he acts like, and whose personality he has.”
Mom-to-Be
Luckily, everything has been going really well in what Jordin described as a “smooth pregnancy.”
“I haven’t had any morning sickness. Up until recently, I just started having some back pains. Other than that, it’s been really good,” she shared. “It’s been really nice having energy too. I remember my first trimester I slept 13 hours a day. That was tough.”
Jordin’s diet also changed when she entered her second trimester. “My first trimester, I craved a lot of salty stuff — chips, salsa, pickles — and things like that. Then randomly, I craved blood oranges out of nowhere,” she said. “My appetite kind of went away, so I’m not craving anything right now. But in the beginning, yes, I was craving a lot for salty stuff.”
Pregnancy Cravings
Having spent months hankering for salty snacks, it was only serendipity that the “No Air” singer recently teamed up with Lay’s to help launch the Smiles with Lay’s program.
The campaign will make a donation up to a million dollars to Operation Smile, a charity dedicated to giving children with cleft lips access to surgery, for every purchase of a specially designed chip bag. Starting Feb. 12, fans will also be able to create a custom Lay’s bag featuring their own smile on the brand’s website.
“I’ve been supporting Operation Smile for a while now. The work that they do with children providing the physical capability to smile for the rest of their lives is so incredible,” she said. “So, I’m thinking: ‘A million dollars is a lot of smiles. That makes a lot of sense. We need to do this!’ Now, more than ever, we need to smile more.”
“I have a lot of reasons why I smile. The baby is one of them, of course. The husband is another,” Jordin added. “But I’ve never seen somebody help someone out and not feel amazing afterwards!”
