British embassy security guard David Smith admits spying for Russia

A security guard has admitted spying for Russia while working at the British Embassy in Berlin.

Investigators claimed David Smith, 58, had needed to hurt the UK and the international safe haven where he had labored for quite some time.The Briton was blamed for gathering knowledge about the government office and releasing mystery archives.Smith confessed at the Old Bailey to eight charges under the Authority Mysteries Act.He is said to have needed to live in Russia or Ukraine during the time he elapsed on secret knowledge from May 2020.Examiners said he was driven by a serious contempt for his nation and rankled by the flying of the Rainbow banner on the side of the LGBT people group.He was captured in August 2021 and 800 euros (£700) of money was tracked down in his home in Potsdam, Germany.Smith, presently of no proper house, confessed to the charges on 4 November, yet detailing limitations were at first set up. They were lifted on Friday.
