An inquest into the death of Sarah Everard has been opened and adjourned until the conclusion of criminal proceedings.
The 33-year-old evaporated as she headed back home in Clapham, south London, on 3 March. Her body was discovered seven days after the fact in forest close to Ashford, Kent. Ms Everard’s family were following the consultation at South East Kent Coroner’s Court by means of video-connect. No reason for death was given and her body was delivered for a memorial service. Senior coroner Patricia Harding heard proof from the Met Police’s Acting Det Insp Lee Tullett, one of the exploring officials working on it. He told the coroner that police initially got included on the evening of Thursday 4 March, when Ms Everard’s sweetheart Josh Lowth connected as he was concerned he had not had the option to contact her.The official said there had been no movement on her telephone after a call to Mr Lowth the prior night, and that Ms Everard had neglected to go to a gathering at work on the Thursday. A missing individual request started that evening, Det Insp Tullett told the hearing.He said that CCTV proof was assembled by police and searches were directed in London. “Our requests drove us to a region of forest, Hoads Wood, right external Ashford in Kent and we found Sarah there on 10 March at about 16:20,” the official said. Dismissing the investigation, the coroner said: “It stays for me to say to Sarah’s relatives how sorry I am for your misfortune.” PC Wayne Couzens, 48, has been accused of the murder and hijack of Ms Everard. He has been remanded in guardianship to show up at the Old Bailey on 9 July in front of a preliminary that is set to begin on 25 October.
