At least 482 migrants crossed the English Channel in 21 small boats on Wednesday, the Home Office has said, setting a new record for a single day.
The Ministry of Defense had before affirmed that an activity on its terminating range at Hythe must be halted when individuals arrived on the sea shore there. As per Home Office figures, there have now been 10,260 appearances in 435 boats so far in 2021. The Home Office said French specialists had prevented 246 individuals from intersection. Dan O’Mahoney, surreptitious Channel danger leader, said: “These perilous little boat intersections, worked with by groups of hoodlums, are putting lives in danger. “These numbers are unsatisfactory, that is the reason we are making a move on all fronts. “Law enforcement agencies are dismantling the people smuggling gangs. Joint work with the French has seen a doubling of police officers on French beaches. ” The previous highest totals of daily arrivals on small boats were 416 people on 2 September 2020, and 430 migrants on 19 July.
